SatNav has launched a turn-by-turn navigation and planning solution for laptops and desktops.
The new application for commuters includes turn-by-turn navigation and routing software bundled with OneIndia map. The One India map covers all major cities of India along with a detailed National / State Highway network, plus several thousand points of interest. This new solution is targeted at corporate sector.
Through this application users will be able to locate an unknown place just by sitting in the office or at home. All users have to do is feed in a start point, end point and get the complete details of distance, time to travel etc. Through this users can not only find the destination but also plan their route before actually leaving.
SatNav has observed that such planning of the route to be taken and journey saves around one hour. Besides, SatNav claims that by using this software before going for a meeting will lead to efficiency improvement of over 15% in a single day.
By attaching SatGuide Bluetooth GPS receiver, users can even choose to convert their laptop into a navigation device.
The SatGuide Laptop software can be purchased from www.satguide.in. The Pan-India solution for Metros is priced at Rs. 1999 plus tax.
It is nice to see a new GPS navigation software program released for Windows platform. Not everyone wants a dedicated PND (personal navigation device). Some users prefer the multi-purposness of a laptop. Especially now that laptops are getting encreasingly smaller and lighter, and with the advent of TabletPCs and Ultra-Mobile PCs.
This doesnt mean anything especially as the low price clearly indicates that this software map does not have the precision to be usefull foranything other than route planning , it definitly lacks the precision to be used in actually navigating in a ity , especially since many of the roads in some cities ont even figure on the planning commissions maps
