Medion GoPal P4425, the World’s First Fingerprint-enabled PND Available

Medion GoPal P4425 with AuthenTec Medion has rolled out the world’s first Personal Navigation Device that features a fingerprint sensor to enhance the owner’s security and deter service theft. Called the GoPal P4425, the new feature-rich GPS makes use of AuthenTec’s AES1510 slide fingerprint sensor for user identification.

The software allows the consumer to save five different users’ fingerprints to the device, ensuring that only authorized users can activate it. Now, you need not worry about the PND being stolen as the thieves cannot access the device, thanks to the fingerprint sensors.

Mark Jendrzok, MEDION AG’s Director of Product Management, Mobile Computing, remarked, “Our goal was to create a feature-rich, portable PND which uses the best technologies and security features available today. We are pleased to add AuthenTec’s TruePrint fingerprint sensor technology, which replaces passwords and PINs with a simple swipe of a finger, bringing convenient security to owners of this innovative new navigation system.”

This new GPS unit features a 4.3-inch TFT touch screen display with a slim 17mm case, an FM transmitter to allow voice guidance through the vehicle’s sound system. In addition, it also sports GPS satellite and Bluetooth wireless connectivity for hands-free use, voice recognition and text-to-speech capability for detailed voice instructions, an RDS-TMC receiver for live traffic updates.

Marc Gebert, AuthenTec’s Director of European Marketing and Sales, said “Longtime AuthenTec customer MEDION continues to recognize the value that fingerprint sensors bring to consumer electronics, and we are proud to be part of MEDION’s first-of-a-kind, fingerprint-enabled GPS system. By utilizing our TruePrint enabled fingerprint sensor, users of this new and innovative PND from MEDION can now be assured that their security and privacy are protected. This exciting new product demonstrates another unique application of AuthenTec’s fingerprint sensors.”

GoPal P4425 also provides SiRF Atlas III multimedia processor for the playback of MP3 files, videos and digital photos as well as Speed advisor and lane assistance.

Medion GoPal P4425 GPS system comes with a price tag of £300 (approx. Rs. 16,855).
