The PlayJam GameStick release date has been announced to be April 30 and the extremely compact console has been put up for pre-sale through the official website in collaboration with Amazon for $79 (approx. Rs. 4,290), which is also the price paid by its backers on KickStarter. It will be shipped to those who pre-order it now, after these backers receive the gadget.
We spotted the news about the GameStick going up for pre-order on EuroGamer website which confirms that the 2-inch gadget will hit retail stores after the company is done fulfilling all the pre-orders. Along with the device in question, the maker is also selling a dock with features like wireless charging capability, 2 HDMI ports, Ethernet and a microSD card slot, for $24.99 (approx. Rs. 1,355). A solid plastic case worth $9.99 (approx. Rs. 540) is available as well, to protect the controller as well as the tiny console. Both accessories will be shipped in April too.
Prospective users will appreciate the fact that the device packs a punch in its compact form factor. For starters, it binges on the Android Jelly Bean OS and the version 4.2 at that. Considering that it is crafted for gamers, the Android console is required to deliver efficient performance and the integrated Amlogic 8726-MX processor seems to be capable of doing just that. Additionally, the chipset has 1GB of DDR3 RAM for company.
