PlayJam Gamestick price in UK set, available for pre-order via Game

Gamestick

With its release date slated for sometime in June, the PlayJam-developed Gamestick has currently been put up for pre-order in the UK at a price of £79.99 (approx. Rs. 6,603). Sadly, Game is the only online shopping outlet which has begun taking registrations for the console at present.

Well, the device does show attributes to give the recently introduced Ouya which is also a game gadget pegged at £99.99 (roughly Rs. 8,254), a run for its money. And just like the other gaming console, this Android-based device too began its journey owing to Kickstarter’s funding tools.

Game

The micro-console can be slipped into any TV’s HDMI port and users are good to go. Its ecosystem includes an Amlogic 8726-MX processor and the pre-installed Android Jelly Bean OS. Wrapping 8GB of inbuilt memory and allowing an expansion facility of up to 32GB, the device will ship with 1GB of DDR3 RAM.

It will be compatible with a resolution of up to 1080p, while also offering support for Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 LE. Starting September, users will be given a choice to update the firmware and reap benefits like DLNA and XBMC support.

Angular Profile

The console supports 3 modes of control comprising of the gamepad itself, a mouse as well as a keyboard. Not only will it support up to 4 joypads, but users should also be able to employ some of their Android or iOS mobile gadgets as controllers while playing certain games. See this functionality in action in the video embedded below.

Spotted on the exterior of the controller are four action keys, a D-pad in addition to dual analog sticks and a power button. Also, owners will find a unique button situated above the Back and Select keys.

Interested folks will be able to call dibs on the PlayJam Gamestick via Game exclusively, as mentioned above. Those on the lookout for an extra controller will be able to pre-order it at £34.99 (around Rs. 2,888), while a dock has also been made available for bookings at the same amount.
