Nintendo 3DS price slashed, efforts to increase sales

Only half a year since its debut, makers of the Nintendo 3DS have declared a forty percent price cut of the device in a bid to improve sales. This interestingly ruled out strategy doesn’t only benefit new customers but old ones as well.
Showing their appreciation to the eight hundred thousand loyal 3DS users in the U.S, the company will soon be offering twenty free games from the Nintendo eShop as well. Building its popularity from previously seen titles, the device also has other features to offer like the Nintendo Video service that provides 3D clips of movies, music, comedy and others.
Reggie Fils-Aime President of Nintendo America commented, “For anyone who was on the fence about buying a Nintendo 3DS, this is a huge motivation to buy now. We are giving shoppers every incentive to pick up a Nintendo 3DS, from an amazing new price to a rapid-fire succession of great games.”
The allocation of free games will be given to those users who connect to the Nintendo eShop at least once before 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on August 11th. On doing so, the device will be automatically added to the Ambassador program. Furthermore they can download paid games like Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong Jr, Balloon Fight, Ice Climber and the Legend of Zelda for the NES Virtual Console for free.
Additionally, registered users will receive ten exclusive Game Boy Virtual Console games such as Yoshi’s Island, Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare, Inc. Mega Microgames and Mario vs. Donkey Kong.
The Nintendo 3DS will be available for a price of $169.99 (approx. Rs. 7,507) starting August 12, 2011.
