Nintendo Wii price shoots up in UK

Nintendo Wii The latest buzz in the gaming world is the price hike of Wii in the UK by Nintendo, according to GamesIndustry. The reports also say that the reason behind the rise in price is depreciation of the pound. It is supposedly another adverse effect of the present global economic situation.

The Wii system is retail priced at GBP 179.99 in the region while the retailer may face a price rise of about GBP 18 – 20 which will eventually make the customers pay more, says the report.

“We are only – reluctantly – raising our trade price now to retailers due to unprecedented and sustained depreciation of the pound. This is a problem brought about by extreme currency fluctuations that are a symptom of the global economic situation,” said Nintendo.

Well, we won’t really blame Nintendo, calling it a consequence of the economic crisis.
