PlayStation 3 Updated with System Software Update Version 2.10
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has announced System Software Update Version 2.10 for Sony PlayStation 3 console. The new updates will allow gamers to play Blu-ray Disc movies.
With the Blu-ray Profile 1.1 also known as Bonus View, PS3 owners will be able to exploit the potential of the new Blu-ray movies coming to the market in 2008. In short the PS3 will now support picture-in-picture and audio mixing features along with the new BD Data Utility.
The new updates will also allow users to play DivX and VC-1 (wmv) encoded files. Hence users can now watch authorized videos on the PC through the console.
Voice chat is also enhanced through the upgrades. The Update Version 2.10 also includes voice changer option that will enable users to alter the tone and pitch of their voice from the Control panel during AV Chat.
Now you can also store music on your PS3 through its audio enhancing features. Besides, there is also third music setting (Type 3) while viewing “Music Settings” in the “Bitmapping” subfolder.
However, there are some problems which were expected to be dealt by SCEE. Such as even now the PS3 will play only copyright-protected files, files encoded by using DivX 3.11, or ones that are 2GB or larger.
