Nintendo Wii Outselling Sony’s PS3 By 3:1, in Japan

Nintendo Wii Leader in Japanese Market

In the month of August, Nintendo’s video game Wii has outsold Sony’s PlayStation 3 in Japan, with a ratio of 3:1. But the gap between the sales of the games of two competitors has reduced.

According to Japan’s sales statistics released by Enterbrain, Nintendo sold 245,653 units of the Wii in the four weeks ending August 26; while Sony could sell only 81,541 units of PlayStation3. And he other competitor, Microsoft could sell only 11,288 pieces of the Xbox 360.

In July, Wii was leading the Japanese market with the ratio of 4:1 and in June it was 6:1.

ThePS3 is packed with advanced technology like Blu-ray high-definition DVD player. It is said that the console’s high price and lack of strong game titles have caused the decrease of sale.

So as of now, Wii is the worldwide leader in video games. We already reported about Sony might reduce the price of the PS3 in order to stay in competition with Wii and Xbox 360. Let’s see what other steps Sony takes to raise the sales.
