Palm Centro Smartphone

Today, Palm unveiled its smallest smartphone called Centro, at a press event in Mumbai, India. Though it is a smartphone, Palm claims that it is not meant for the corporate circuit. Instead it is targeted at youngsters enjoying their social life as well as their work. In Palm’s words, “It’s not 9 to 5. It’s for enjoying life tonight.”

The QWERTY keyboard, 1.3 MP camera, web browsing capability, multimedia access, email and pocket size are some of the key features of the Centro. Apart from the QWERTY keyboard, the Centro is also equipped with touchscreen, as an alternate input option. Even the stylus is bundled with the phone.

Users can access their personal as well as corporate emails through the phone. Besides, they can also create edit and view Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. To be in touch with family and friends, the Palm Centro offers instant messaging facility too.

“The combination of keyboard, touchscreen and Palm’s trademark ease of use makes Centro intuitive and easy to use for staying in touch,” said Olivier Rozay, Palm’s regional director for Asia Pacific.

“Consumers who are thinking about stepping up to a smartphone will find Centro the perfect first choice-it’s rich in features but also comes in small size, cool design,” added Rozay.

In addition to the regular features, the Centro is customizable with a range of applications such as Women Calendar, Diet & Exercise etc. which are downloadable from www.palm.com/solutions.

The Palm Centro is now available in the Indian market at the price of Rs. 13,990.

1.3 Mega Pixel Camera is not sufficient these days for a phone like this.

Available at Rs.13900 ?? This model is available for $100 (Rs.4000) in the US !!
We, Indians are being fleeced by this greedy company and their even greedier Indian cohorts. Dont touch this phone for anything over Rs.5000. It is not worth anymore. They probably think that the Indian consumer is stupid. Maybe they are too.

100 USD is for a locked phone in the US. hence price is not comparable,
I agree with Jay though that it isnt worth 13K. should be approx 8k-9k in india accounting for custom duties + diff between locked & unlocked phone.
    Fleecing is right though
