HP Retail Photo Solutions for Indian Market to Revolutionize Digital Photography

Today, Hewlett Packard has made two important announced, HP Retail Photo Solutions and HP Snapfish photo service. Present at the event were Varadarajan Krishnan, General Manager Consumer Sales, Imaging & Printing Group (IPG), HP Indian Sales, V Narayanan, Director – retail Photo Solutions and Bala Parthasarthy, Vice President – Online Imaging of Imaging & Pring Group, HP Asia Pacific and Japan. Gracing the event, Mandira Bedi accompanied them on the stage.

The retail solution is the strategy of HP to revolutionize the digital photography market by entering into the retail photo printing market. The HP Snapfish is the world’s number 1 consumer online photo service that allows the user to customize their images.

Krishnan, GM – Consumer Sales, Imaging & Printing Group (IPG), HP Indian Sales, had his views to shares on this occasion, “Today’s announcement brings HP closer to realizing our vision for creating an all-digital photography marketplace. We are very excited about the HP Revolution unveiled today that will take digital photography to the next level. By establishing a footprint of 3000 Retail Photo outlets with HP Retail Photo Solution by 2010 and photo delivery through Snapfish across India we hope to change the dynamics of the Photo printing market. We are positive that consumers will enjoy the new photo printing experience introduced by HP.”

The HP Retail Solutions will provide an end-to-end digital photography printing services with high quality HP photos that will last 5 times longer than traditional photos. It also offers an opportunity to the consumer to place their favorite photos on key chains, mugs, T-shirts, mouse pads, photo greeting cards, posters, calendars and coasters. These printing photo based gifts will be available at the HP Retail Solution that enables consumer to print on art paper, canvas and even the instant photo albums.

According to V Narayanan, Director – Retail Photo Solutions, IPG, Hewlett Packard Asia Pacific and Japan, “With the announcement of HP Retail Photo Solutions in Indian, we hope to provide a profitable business proposition for the retailers by driving down costs and offering their customers more choice, improved, flexibility, better quality and price.”

The brand identity of the HP Retail Solution will be a Multi-Colour Swirl with punch line ‘Celebrate Life with HP Photos.’ It also consists of the company’s Photosmart Studio and Photosmart pm 1000 Microlab Printer.

The HP Photosmart Studio is for high-volume printing of photos and creative projects such as posters, albums, calendars and greeting cards in as little as an hour. The HP Photosmart pm 1000 Microlab is for high-speed 4 x 6-inch printing.

Snapfish has been introduced to offer consumers free online photo sharing, unlimited online photo storage and professionally developed digital camera prints for as low as Rs. 2.95 only for 4×6 size. Moreover, the new customers will receive 20 free prints when they become a Snapfish member with no obligations.

Snapfish in India, Bala Parthasarthy, VP – Online Imaging, IPG, HP Asia Pacific and Japan, expressed “Snapfish has gained popularity globally and we expect to do the same in India. It will change the way consumer ‘click-print-sale’ photos in India. We have customized Snapfish to the needs of the Indian consumers with breakthrough pricing of Rs 2.95 per print in the photo printing domain.”

HP has planned to work with retail partners to launch HP Retail Solutions in a wide variety of locations that includes supermarkets, photo specialty stores, electronics stores, office products stores and traditional photo service stores. However, the price of this solution is still not fixed.

In terms of online photo printing, Snapfish offers consumer to order and create a wide range of prints, enlargements and personalized photo merchandise online. It also provides free photo editing tools and software. Common logins and acess to account from any Snapfish country side around the world enables the customers to enjoy local shipping rates and times, wherever Snapfish operates.

HP Photosmart ps2000 Studio

Along with this announcement, HP also introduced a HP Photosmart ps2000 Studio (HP Photosmart Express Kiosk) that delivers all the above mentioned services and solutions to the consumers. This product features a touchscreen interface and allows the consumer to access the printer and customize their images.

HP has made the digital photography printing as easy as making a two minute noodles. Three stages to get the image ready: first, bring in the digital photos, then make the photo creation in minutes and lastly, the photo is ready while the consumer shops.
