The Samsung SUR40 for Microsoft is all set to start shipping to users who ordered it after it went up for pre-order in November last year. The display, loaded with the Microsoft Surface 2.0 software, PixelSense and touch technology, allows multiple users to work on its real estate of 40 inches.
The LCD LED panel renders visuals in 1920 x 1080p resolution along with an aspect ratio of 16:9 and brightness of about 300cd/m2. Protected by Gorilla Glass, this screen weighing a little more than 36kg has a contrast ratio of 2000:1. It operates at a temperature at about 30 degree Celsius and is fueled by the 2.9GHz AMD Athlon X2 245e dual core CPU in addition to 4GB DDR3 RAM.

Featuring Windows 7 Professional for embedded systems, the Samsung SUR40 for Microsoft surface also equips a 320GB hard drive along with the 1GB AMD Radeon HD 6750 GDDRS GPU. The display boasts of a thin 4-inch profile and recognizes objects other than hands and fingers with support for up to 50 points of contact at a time. Each pixel is embedded with camera elements for improved interaction and intuitive interface.
The Wi-Fi enabled screen can either be mounted on the wall and furniture or placed horizontally with the help of its stand. Other communication options include Ethernet support and Bluetooth connectivity. The Samsung device can also be connected to other peripherals utilizing its 4 USB ports, HDMI connector and the 3.5mm audio jack.
The Samsung SUR40 for Microsoft surface price is tagged at $8,400 (approx. Rs. 4,28,085) and $9,049 (approx. Rs. 4,61,250) along with matching stand. It will start shipping this month.
