It is evident that the demand for flat panel displays has risen considerably in recent years. According to the GFK Nielsen Urban India Panel TV (LCD + Plasma TV) Report of MBOs, Sony Bravia has secured the lead position in the flat panel display category across India in the April to June 2010 timeline.

The total amount of units that Sony sold during this quarter is reported to be higher than any other company in this line. In the month of June, Sony apparently grabbed 33% of the market share by value and 29.5% market share by units. The company’s 22”, 32”, 40″/42” Bravia LCD segments are cited to contribute to more than 75% of all LCD TVs sold across India.

“Indian consumers have immense faith in the quality of our products and after-sales customer service,” Masaru Tamagawa, MD, Sony India. “We look forward to honor this position by delivering the best products and unparalleled services to the Indian consumer in the field of Consumer Electronics. Sony India will remain committed towards offering new age technology and digital concepts to produce and sell excellence.”

This GFK Nielsen report also goes on to state that the majority of Sony’s units were sold in Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal during this quarter.
