Samsung reveals new e-Reader for US Market

Giving chase to other manufacturers in e-reader domain, Samsung has recently announced the imminent availability of its first-ever e-Reader device for the US market. With this new offering, users can easily access content, write notes and thoughts directly on the page, highlight content that matters to them and share notes with friends and peers.
Pretty enthrallingly, the company has combined over one million electronic titles, advanced handwriting capabilities and Wi-Fi connectivity into a single, easy to use device that allows users to read, write and share on the go.
“We are very excited to be entering the explosive eReader market with a device that brings the best of a traditional reading experience into the digital age,” expressed Reid Sullivan, Senior Vice President at Samsung Electronics America. “Samsung prides itself on identifying and fulfilling unmet consumer needs through innovation, and the eReader is emblematic of that approach. We are partnering with the best in the business to offer access to an extensive array of content, and have developed innovative features and technologies designed to make reading that content as personal and intimate an experience as reading a hard copy book has always been.”
The Samsung e-Reader stands apart with its electromagnetic resonance stylus pen. This innovative EMR stylus topples users the ability to write – associated only with traditional paper books. Designed to be portable, the new device snoozes in a slider form factor and boasts of a 6-inch display (600 x 800) with 8-Gray scale for easy readability both indoors and out.
Apart from this, the impressive e-Reader lends support to e-pub, PDF/a, TXT, bmp and jpg formats. Taking advantage of the built-in front speakers or the convenient head phone jack, users can experience Samsung’s text-to-speech technology, which reads text aloud and enables them to continuously enjoy their favorite content even while driving or during crowded commutes.
Further, the Samsung e-Reader embraces a Wi-Fi network for connectivity between public and private spaces. Its integrated Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity allows for audio transmission to wireless headphones. The device also features Samsung’s unique EmoLink technology that lets users share content between Samsung e-Reader devices. Other noticeable aspects include 2GB of internal memory and an external microSD card slot for additional storage capacity.
As of now, the pricing and availability details of new Samsung e-Reader are kept under the wraps.
