Asus turns eco-friendly with Bamboo Notebooks and LED Monitors

With manufacturers realizing about the environmental hazards that prevail on the earth now-a-days, greener products seem to be piling out. The Green Asus initiative supports green and environmentally-friendly practices throughout the company. Asus has designed its latest products of notebooks and LED monitors by integrating power-saving technologies like the Asus Super Hybrid Engine.
The Asus U Series Bamboo Collection products have been manufactured with the environmentally-friendly materials like bamboo and recycled plastics in its products and packaging materials. The Asus U Series Bamboo Collection notebook adorns a smoky brown bamboo exterior and brushed aluminum interior. Providing an organic feel, this elegant and light notebook utilizes lesser plastics compared to other notebooks.
In order to reduce energy consumption, Asus has introduced low-power Asus LED monitors. The company has developed the Super Hybrid Engine in notebooks and Energy-using Power standard-compliant motherboards. Asus is also planning usage of mercury-free LED technology into its monitor and notebook product lines. Ranging from 20 to 24 inches, Asus’ ultra-slim Designo Series LED monitors’ 10,000,000:1 Asus Smart Contrast Ratio technology delivers true-to-life images in Full HD 1080p. The mercury-free LED-backlit panel gives users up to 45 percent in power savings when compared to parallel LCD monitors.
The company also introduced the latest lithium-ion battery technology as standard equipment in its new Business Series B43 and B53 notebooks. This green Boston-Power Sonata battery is long lasting, faster to charge, safer and cost effective. Also, these batteries provide over 900 charge cycles which is more than three times than traditional notebook batteries. For even faster charging, it is paired with Asus Xpress Charge technology to charge a fully drained battery to 90 percent in 90 minutes.
Asus has developed SEA (Smart Energy in Action), a solution which enables users to easily measure, track, monitor and analyze their energy consumption at home. This data is hosted on the cloud on a dedicated website to easily access it anywhere. Users can study these in detail and trade tips to help lower their energy use. Apart from this, all Asus products can be easily disassembled with common household tools, and are recyclable. The company commits to be greener with an entire range of Green Design technologies in the pipeline for its notebook, Eee PC, EeeBox PC, LED monitor, and motherboard products.
The pricing and the availability details of this new green range have are yet to be announced.
