Kindle becomes most gifted device on Amazon.com

Amazon Kindle Amazon.com has proclaimed that Kindle is the most gifted device in Amazon’s history. It claims that on Christmas Day, consumers purchased more Kindle books than the physical ones. The Kindle Store now flaunts more than 3,90,000 books.

E-book readers have been widely accepted across the globe. In fact, the revolutionary Kindle is in for some competition with several new eReaders emerging.

“We are grateful to our customers for making Kindle the most gifted item ever in our history,” said Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon.com. “On behalf of Amazon.com employees around the world, we wish everyone happy holidays and happy reading!”

Amazon also revealed that on December 14, 2009, consumers ordered more than 9.5 million items across the globe, making it about 110 items per second.

Moreover, Amazon says that this holiday season, overall it shipped over 200,000 units to APO/FPO addresses while about 99 percent of its orders were in time to meet holiday deadlines across the globe.
