Plastic Logic e-book reader to support AT&T 3G network

AT&T has announced that it will provide 3G data to Plastic Logic’s upcoming e-book reader, reports Engadget. This new touchscreen e-book reader makes the Kindle sound quite traditional. This e-book had previously made an appearance at the D7.
The 8.5” x 11” slate is just a quarter inch thick and features Wi-Fi connectivity. Apparently, Plastic Logic selected AT&T over Verizon, owing to the low prices offered by the former. However, AT&T hasn’t yet cleared whether it will provide the service for free or charge a monthly rental.
The other question that goes unanswered is whether this e-book reader will have access to AT&T’s public Wi-Fi spots. Reportedly, AT&T’s GSM network is compatible with carries worldwide.
The Plastic Logic e-book reader is expected to launch at the beginning of 2010.
