Sony starts shipping Reader Daily Edition
Recently Amazon began the free expedited shipment for the Kindle while Barnes & Noble compensates for the delay of its Nook e-book reader. Now Sony gears up and begins shipping its Reader Daily Edition. The pre-orders placed through December 20 on the SonyStyle website would arrive to consumers within the next 48 hours.
Sony’s Reader Daily Edition brings in wireless access to Sony’s Reader Store through AT&T’s 3G mobile broadband network almost anywhere in the US. Voracious reader can purchase and download books. It comes minus any charges for basic wireless connectivity and users can also load content via USB.
Steve Haber, president of Sony Electronics’ Digital Reading Business Division: “We’re thrilled to fulfill initial orders of the Sony Reader Daily Edition for the holidays given the high demand. We now have the most comprehensive family of devices on the market, the greatest access to free and affordable eBooks through the Reader Store and our affiliated ecosystem, and now round out our Reader offering with a wireless device that lets consumers purchase and download daily content on the go.”
The device offers an easy-to-read format for newspapers as well. Its responsive 7-inch touchscreen enables easier navigation with the swipe of a finger. It also includes a stylus. The newspapers now available for wireless delivery include The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune.
So, here’s yet another e-book reader to fit into the user’s gift box.
