Sony announces Bravia WE5 eco TV

Sony Bravia WE5 Eco TV

Sony announces its greenest range of Bravia Television, consuming an average of 20-30% less power than last year’s BRAVIA range.

The new WE5 eco TV offers full HD 1080p resolution and is available in 40-inch and 46-inch screen sizes. The television is said to reduce power consumption by over 50 percent with the incorporation of micro-tubular HCFL (Hot Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) backlight. The set also integrates an Energy Saving Switch to minimize power consumption to zero.

The TV also includes Smart Presence Sensor which turns off picture when set is not being watched. And as soon as the viewer enters the room, the TV screen turns on automatically. Within 30 minutes, the television goes on stand by mode as and when the viewer has fallen asleep.

“Sony consistently leads the way in reducing the environmental impact of its televisions and other electronic products”, says Hiroshi Sakamoto, Vice President, TV Marketing Europe. “As the remarkable WE5 demonstrates, this year’s BRAVIA line-up doesn’t just look and perform better than ever before. It’s an emphatic statement that Sony is serious about cutting the environmental footprint of everybody’s home entertainment experience.”

The Bravia WE5 eco TV is based on the company’s new Bravia Engine 3 that enhances the color range. Its other features include Motionflow 100Hz technology and image Blur Reduction for smoother and shaper image display.

Pricing and availability details of the Sony Bravia WE5 eco TV range are yet to be announced.
