Lensbaby Edge 80 Optic snaps out

The latest addition to the Optic Swap System is the freshly unveiled Lensbaby Edge 80 Optic which is noted to be compatible with other gadgets from the company such as Composer Pro, Muse, Control Freak, Scout and Composer. With this amalgamation, the device can alter the bending lens bodies into a tilt lens to acquire a slice of sharp focus in the picture.
As seen in the Lensbaby Sweet 35 Optic, this latest entrant also incorporates the company’s internal 12-blade adjustable aperture. When potential users tilt the Lensbaby Edge 80 Optic, they will be able to formulate horizontal, diagonal and vertical slices of focus, while the background as well as foreground objects can be aimed at within the slice. The company reveals that the f/2.8 aperture is expected to produce a heavy blurring effect and a slim slice of focus, whereas, the use of the f/22 one will deliver minute amounts of blur and a wide slice of focus.
“The Edge 80 Optic allows photographers to create images with quality that is on-par with some of the best lenses I’ve ever used. Like a great lens mounted on a view camera bellows, you can make spectacular ‘straight’ photos with the Edge 80 pointed straight ahead and then, when you want a different look altogether, fluidly tilt the lens to create a razor sharp slice of selective focus through your image,” remarked Craig Strong, Lensbaby President and Co-Founder.

The transition from f/2.8 through f/22 with the 12-blade aperture can be done with ease by turning the knob situated at the front of the Edge 80 optic. Claimed to be a versatile portrait lens, the new Lensbaby offering can be employed to snap up pictures ranging from food to endowing landscapes with a ‘miniature’ appearance. When the optic is coupled with the Sweet 35, Single Glass, Double Glass and Plastic Optics, users can control a curved field of focus. This means that one area will come into sharp focus while the other maintains its depth of field, transcending into a blur effect.
The Lensbaby Edge 80 Optic price is $300 (approx. Rs. 14,775) and it can be picked up from the company’s official website or via its authorized photo specialty stores strewn across the globe.
