Olympus OM-D E-M5 micro four thirds camera rolled out

In addition to the Tough series snappers, the Olympus OM-D E-M5 camera that marks the debut of the OM-D series of micro four thirds products from the company, has been unveiled. Featuring a 5-axis image stabilization and auto focusing system, this rugged camera claims to withstand spills as well as dust.
Aimed at advanced photographers, the Olympus offering is equipped with the TruePic VI image processing engine and a 16.1MP Live MOS sensor. Its frequency acceleration sensor technology (FAST) auto focusing system is accompanied by 3D AF tracking for capturing moving objects. The snapper also boasts of an electronic viewfinder and a tilting 3-inch touchscreen OLED display for composing images.
This interchangeable lens camera is said to be the first from the company to deliver a 120 frames per second refresh rate. The sensor deployed in the E-M5 offers ISO of up to 25,600, while the 5-axis image stabilizer eliminates blurring effects from still shots as well as videos. Compatible with the M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-50mm f3.5-6.3 electronic zoom lens, its control dial as well as the various function buttons simplify adjusting settings.

Art filters like key line, cross process II, dramatic tone II and other in-camera modes let users assign effects to their pictures and videos. The HD 1080i videos are recorded in the MOV format to facilitate editing on PC systems. Moreover, it works with accessories like the HLD-6 power battery grip, the FL-600R electronic flash, the MMF-3 four thirds mount adapter and most micro four thirds-compliant lenses.
The black and silver colored Olympus OM-D E-M5 price is $999.99 (approx. Rs. 49,000) and it is slated to be made available in April this year. It carries a price tag of $1,299 (approx. Rs. 63,730) with the M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-50mm f3.5-6.3 EZ lens and a $1,099.99 (approx. Rs. 53,970) label when packaged along with the M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 II R lens.
