Ultra-portable Zoom H2n Handy recorder features five microphones

Zoom H2n Handy Recorder The Zoom H2n Handy recorder boasts of innovative designs with groundbreaking features such as studio-quality microphones. The ultra-portable recorder claims to deliver supreme audio quality with four recording modes.

The five studio-quality microphones allow users to record audio in four unique modes. It incorporates the technology used in films in the form of the Mid-Side (MS) stereo mode. Other modes include 90° X/Y stereo, 2-channel and 4-channel surround sound. The built-in speaker and a 1.8-inch backlit LCD display can be used to screen videos instantly.

“A lot of musicians are going to be knocked-out when they use this device, but we’re really interested in seeing the response from the film and broadcast industries. Mid-Side miking has been used in those industries since the ‘80s, but it’s never been available in a handheld recorder,” quoted Scott Goodman, President of Samson.

Powered by two AA alkaline batteries, it allows recording for up to 20 hours. The USB 2.0 interface provides connectivity and helps retrieving data with its recovery function. Additionally, it can be used as a microphone to record audio directly in the PC through the USB connection.

The H2n Handy recorder carries a price tag of $199 (approx. Rs. 8,860) and will hit stores in September this year.
