More often than not, capturing professional quality images gets associated with bulky cameras. But this latest camera offering by Olympus promises to deliver good performance with an added portability feature. The company has officially unveiled its digital camera dubbed VR-320.

The Olympus VR-320 sports a compact metal body which fits easily into a pocket. It encompasses an impressive 12.5x wide-angle optical zoom lens for snapping expansive images and it can also zoom in on distant objects to make them appear closer. The portable camera shoots 720p HD videos which can be viewed on high definition televisions screens.

“The Olympus VR-320 is the perfect mix of power and portability,” shared Jennifer Schmell, product manager, Olympus Imaging America. “Its wide-angle zoom lens captures all the action from close-ups to distant objects, while other features like HD video and Magic Art Filters ensure that consumers can truly capture it all.”

The device has a 3-inch LCD display that makes it easier to capture, compose and review precise shots. The built-in Magic Art Filters feature allows users to edit and touch up images as they are being shot, lending users PC software-like ingenuity. The gizmo’s 14MP image sensor offers detailed and vibrant images along with face detection functionality.

Clicking images in extreme conditions like broad daylight or under the night-sky with optimum clarity is made possible by the camera’s Shadow Adjustment Technology. The tool comes equipped with Olympus [ib] photo editing software and in-camera help guide. It has 14 scene modes in addition to features like AF tracking technology and Intelligent Auto Mode to produce fairly good images. The camera will be available in silver, black, red and blue hues.

The Olympus VR-320 will be sold in the U.S. markets at $199.99 (approx. Rs. 9,144) starting in the month of March.
