JVC carves out new GS-TD1 Full HD 3D camcorder

We last caught of JVC when it stepped into the market with the GY-HM750U ProHD compact shoulder-mount camcorder. The company has now announced the availability of its new GS-TD1 camcorder which boasts of 3D video recording in full HD.

The offering utilizes two camera lenses and two imaging sensors, one of each lens, to shoot 3D images. The unit can record 3D videos that can be seamlessly burned on a Blu-ray or DVD-R for 3D playback on various compatible Blu-ray players.

“With more commercially-produced 3D content coming along this year, sales of 3D TVs are expected to be strong,” commented Dave Owen, Vice President, Consumer Video, JVC U.S.A. “But what could be better than creating your own home videos in 3D? We think there will be plenty of 3D TV buyers eager to do just that. Furthermore, we think they’ll appreciate that our new camcorder offers both Full HD 3D recording and several options for archiving and playing back their 3D footage.”

The device comes along with a pair of 3.2MP CMOS sensors and a JVC-developed high-speed imaging engine that precisely processes two full HD images at 1920 x 1080i resolution. The company also offers three interesting shooting modes such as LR Independent format, Side-by-Side format and 2D AVCHD shooting.

The newest entrant accommodates a F1.2 JVC 3D Twin HD GT Lens with extra-low-dispersion glass and multiple aspherical lenses for an uplifted experience. The F1.2 lens and the back-illuminated CMOS sensors render remarkable low light performance. The GS-TD1 sports round iris diaphragms for exceptional bokeh effect shooting of video and stills alike.

Featuring 64GB internal memory, the unit flaunts its SDXC card slot, 3D optical 5x zoom, optical axis automatic stabilization system, JVC’s Biphonic technology and automatic parallax adjustment. Besides Everio MediaBrowser 3D software, the device houses a 3.5-inch 3D touch panel LCD monitor which displays 3D images without the need for 3D glasses.

The JVC GS-TD1 camcorder can be purchased for $1,699 (approx Rs. 76,659).
