Fujifilm devises FinePix S1800 and FinePix S2550HD digital cameras

Fujifilm is making news yet again. This time it’s for their FinePix S1800 and FinePix S2550HD digital cameras. They feature 12MP 1/2.3” CCDs and the company’s very own 18x wide-angle optical zoom lenses along with 3” high-contrast LCDs as well as electronic viewfinders.

The cameras’ integrated lenses offer focal ranges of 28mm wide-angle to 504mm telephoto and Instant Zoom. A newly introduced Picture Search tool assists users in easy image retrieval by basing searches depending on the Scene mode in which the photo was taken. Both cameras are capable of recording footage in 720p HD quality, feature dual IS, face detection, automatic red-eye removal as also smile and blink detection.

David Troy, marketing manager, Consumer Digital Cameras, Electronic Imaging Division, Fujifilm North America Corporation, explained “Fujifilm’s superior image quality with the FinePix S1800 and FinePix S2550HD enables the user to capture still images and shoot video in true HD and realize the benefit of superior image quality and long zoom capabilities with their home entertainment system.”

The S2550HD possesses a mini HDMI Port for easy connection to the user’s home theater system. The S1800 also boasts of incorporated Auto Picture Rotation and Tracking Auto Focus technology. Both models are proffered with an optional HD Player Kit containing an HD card reader that can be attached to an HDTV via HDMI Cable for digital transfer of HD content and playback using a wireless remote control.

Fujifilm’s FinePix S1800 will hit shelves this month at $229.95 (approx. Rs.10,631), while the FinePix S2550HD will be out in March 2010 at $249.95 (approx. Rs.11,556).
