Samsung unveils SL720, SL502 digital cameras

Samsung SL-720 Camera

Samsung has expanded its existing SL-series of digital cameras with the launch of new SL720 and SL502 digital cameras. These stylish cameras feature 12.2 MP sensor with 5x optical zoom.

The SL720 and SL502 come with 28mm wide-angle lens, dual image stabilization, 3.0 inch LCD and 35mm lens, digital image stabilization and 2.7 inch LCD. Users can employ Samsung’s Smart Auto shooting mode to automatically choose an apt scene mode for the image and search their prior images quickly from the Smart Album. This Album arranges images automatically and helps quick search by segregating them based on date, week, specific file type and other criteria.

“These are two of the most full-featured compact digital cameras on the market. Typically, consumers may feel like they have to sacrifice functionality in order to find a digital camera priced within their means, but that’s not the case with the new SL720 and SL502. Samsung is giving consumers the ability to experience the latest and most advanced digital imaging technology, helping them step up to a more robust, feature-packed camera which will help take their photography to a whole new level,” said Reid Sullivan, senior vice president of audio/video and digital imaging marketing, Samsung Electronics America.

The Face Recognition technology automatically stores up to 20 preferred faces in the internal memory of the camera. If one of these saved faces appear in the frame, it will automatically prioritize it. Users can also search their photos by looking out for a specific face. The Perfect Portrait System comes with Face Detection, Smile Shot, Blink Detection and Samsung’s Beauty Shot features.

The new SL720 and SL502 cameras offer consumers advanced video recording options. The SL720 can record 720p HD video. One can watch these videos on an HDTV using an optional HDMI cradle (sold separately). The H.264 compression and an advanced codec allow longer time of video recording. The SL502 performs MJPEG video recording at a resolution of 640×480.

The Samsung SL-series SL720 and the SL502 digital cameras will be available next month for $229.99 and $149.99 respectively.
