Canon Releases Flash Memory, DVD and MiniDV Camcorders

Canon Logo Canon has announced to introduce nine camcorders at CES 2008, Las Vegas. The new camcorders feature a variety of recording formats. The latest introduction includes nine cameras from three ranges namely Flash Memory Camcorders, DVD Camcorders and MiniDV Camcorders.

“We truly believe we have taken camcorders to another level of performance, especially with the use of Dual Flash Memory and Advanced Zoom – two breakthrough technologies. Regardless of the format a consumer selects, images will be of the highest quality. The technology features add up to a more enriching consumer experience,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager, Consumer Imaging Group, Canon US.

The Flash Memory Camcorders range includes FS11, FS10 and FS100. The FS11 offers internal memory of 16GB Flash drive, for up to 10 hours of video recording, plus adds the flexibility of an SDHC memory card slot. The FS10 has 5GB of flash memory SDHC card slot to expand the memory further. The FS100 has no internal memory but does feature a SDHC card slot. All the new flash memory camcorder ranges feature Genuine Canon 48x Advanced Zoom along with a 1.07 Megapixel CCD Image Sensor, and Canon’s DIGIC DV II Image Processor for exceptional color and clarity.

The FS11, FS10 and FS100 will start shipping in the US in April at the prices of $599, $499 and $399, respectively

The DVD Camcorders camcorder range includes DC330, DC320 and DC310 camcorders. The DC310 DVD camcorder features Canon 41x Advanced Zoom, a 680,000 Pixel CCD Image Sensor, and a large 2.7″ Widescreen LCD Screen. Whilst the DC320 DVD comes with a 1.07 Megapixel CCD Image Sensor for crisp, quality video. The DC330 DVD camcorder is equipped with USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Terminal and a Multi-Angle Remote Control. The DC330 DVD camcorder has remote sensor that is built into the LCD screen instead of an infrared sensor located on the front.

Canon’s DC330, DC320 and DC310 will be shipped in March at the price of $379, $369 and $349, respectively.

The MiniDV Camcorders range includes ZR950, ZR930 and ZR900 models. The ZR900 MiniDV camcorder offers a Genuine Canon 41x Advanced Zoom and 680,000 Pixel CCD Image Sensor, and also a microphone terminal. On the other hand the ZR930 has Genuine Canon 48x Advanced Zoom, 1.07 Megapixel CCD, Multi-Angle Remote Control and also features a microphone terminal. And the ZR950 MiniDV camcorder features SDHC memory card slot for capturing photos, and a USB 2.0 terminal, allowing connectivity to PictBridge-enabled printers. The MiniDV series is scheduled to ship in late January.

Canon’s ZR900, ZR930 and ZR950 MiniDV camcorders will cost $249, $269 and $279, respectively.
