IGEL intros Wide Array of Thin Clients for Citrix XenDesktop

IGEL Thin Client IGEL Technology, the world’s third largest thin client vendor, has announced a partnership with Citrix to employ IGEL’s latest broadest range of thin client models on the important Citrix XenDesktop virtualization standard. The company has introduced 22 new models along with its special digital services, which delivers the best user experience combined with robust desktop resilience and powerful remote management.

In the IGEL Technology range, traditional desktop designs, PC upgrade cards, 17-inch and 19-inch LCD integrated units, wireless tablets and quad screen units are included. Users can deploy the Citrix XenDesktop virtualization solution to almost any part of the business such as including office workers, mobile users, space constrained point-of-sale areas and multi-screen environments such as dealing rooms.

According to Dirk Dördelmann, technical director, IGEL Technology, “The arguments for virtualizing PCs are becoming overwhelming. Applications can now be migrated to the data center without compatibility issues. The access device choice is so broad that organizations can place them almost anywhere, and the process of deployment is no more complex than plugging in a telephone. IGEL offers the end user a thin client experience that is just like a PC but without the hassles, and we are excited to now offer this capability in conjunction with our long-term partner Citrix.”

Boasting to be a Universal Desktop design, the newest tool allows the organization to avoid the pressure of hosting all the necessary applications on the virtual desktop and offers one protocol usage. Consumers have the freedom of picking and choosing ideal digital services that would provide the perfect computer experience, along with web browser, Java, SAP GUI, PDF, terminal emulation and VoIP.

In addition, the flexibility of IGEL enables you to take advantage of desktop resilience when the virtual PC connection is lost. That means you can access emails through the local web client or SAP by using the native SAP GUI in this event.

IGEL also comes with Remote Management Suite software, which is available for free with every IGEL Universal Desktop. With this, the terminal can be instantly connected to its Citrix infrastructure and be remotely managed over a WAN with no scripting and minimal network impact.

Here, users can set up the Citrix desktop by attaching the power, network, monitor, mouse and keyboard. A useful system to start working on a virtual PC without the need of a hardware engineer!
