Wipro launches Supernova Supercomputers in India
Wipro Infotech, the IT division of Wipro Ltd, is the first Indian company to introduce supercomputers in the country. Wipro Infotech has partnered with ZResearch Inc., the California-based technology firm, specializing in making supercomputers and super storage worldwide, for developing the new series of Supernova.
Wipro claims that the Supernova is a range of supercomputers having an entry-level configuration. Moreover, these entry leveled supercomputers are capable of delivering one trillion mathematical calculations per second, scaling up to hundred thousand trillion calculations per second. And super storage capacity can be escalated to multiple hundred petabytes.
According to Ashutosh Vaidya, Wipro Infotech vice-president, “As a leading software and hardware major in the subcontinent, we are embarking on the next level of computing to meet the growing needs of research and development (R and amp;D) institutions and enterprises across verticals.”
“Besides scaling seamlessly to several petabytes, the super storage comes with application specific adaptive inter-operable scheduling and has continues data protection” ZResearch co-founder and chief technology officer Anand Babu noted.
The basic model of the Supernova series will be available at the price of Rs.2.5 million, which comes with one teraflop computing power. While the high-end model having four terabytes storage will cost Rs.10 million.
